SONA-na-na-naman

I really don’t know how to start. I even asked my mom to give me her comments on Arroyo’s SONA. Oh well, after reading her script online, may mga naisip na din ako bigla.

“Just a few months ago, we ended 2007 with the strongest economic growth in a generation. Inflation was low, the peso strong and a million new jobs were created. We were all looking to a better, brighter future.”

Uhm, she didn’t say this, right? For 6 months lang sila puwede.

“Because tough choices were made, the global crisis did not catch us helpless and unprepared.”

Yea right! Totoo na as our president SHE SHOULD solve our problems.

“I am accessible to you, but I spend time every day with the underprivileged and under represented who cannot get a grip on their lives in the daily, all-consuming struggle to make ends meet.”

Sinabi niya yan, gawd.

Tapos yung price ng text message, I don’t believe her na 50 centavos nalang yun ha.

*sigh*

I am relieved to hear that you are able to see through all of GMA's lies and half-truths. It's been quite a while since I heard of such views from a student. Haay, sabi ko na nga ba totoo talaga yung saying na the "youth is the hope of nation." If more of the youth would engage in discussions and express their views on how this nation can be great once again, surely, the youth can be a very potent force.

You're right on the 6 months policy. Who is she kidding? This is the oldest trick in the book. Keep the workers for only 6 months...that way the the employers can get away with not paying their workers the privileges and benefits that should accrue to them.

Regarding VAT, I will upload a link that can clarify myths that have been propagated, such as how the VAT supposedsedly, doesn't affect the pooor since it is the rich who have the capacity and to pay thus they are the ones who bear the brunt of the VAT; or that the 18.6 billion (take note, billion)pesos in windfall RVAT revenues goes to social programs (when in fact, majority goes to the military).

Regarding the cost of text messaging...pareho tayo, piso pa rin ang binabayad ko. I wonder where she learned her mathematics, and to make it worse, ekonomista pa naman siya. No wonder we are in this disastrous state!

Lastly, on the appeal to emotions...her being very busy, her being pro poor...blah...blah...blah... this is probably just an indication that she is reaching the end of her rope...that she has to give an award-winning performance...in the hope that she will find gullible people (or probably people who opt to play dumb)who will actually applaud and kow tow to her.

Seems like Gloria is trying to view things positively kahit wala naman talagang positive na nangyayari right? i mean she's trying to tell us na ok ang economy sa Philippines and we are slowly developing and soon magiging maunlad na tayo or something like that. I don't know what's with her, siya lang yata nakakaita ng mga ganun things when in fact almost half ng population ng country or perhaps even more is suffering from proverty and things like that. Grabe naman. Sana instead na hanggang salita lang siya na umuunlad ang Philippines, make a move for it to truly happen db ;)

Would you rather hear a speech done by our president with nothing but negative information? I guess not. Maybe that's why she opts to use a positive tone to prevent mass suicides. :)

Remove the damn pork barrel and I may start trusting the government again.

I know that there are still good government officials out there, but sadly, they are way outnumbered by the corrupt.
