you can be who you want to be

I took this picture from flickr.com where i was searching for avatars. An avatar is a virtual representation of yourself. You can customize your avatar to however you please. The avatars are used for virtual reality games and virtual chat lines. There are actually pros and cons to this.

In these chat rooms people who are shunned by society because of their looks or personality can roam free in the virtual world being who they really are inside. They are more confident and more open to conversation not thinking if anyone is judging them. This is a good thing actually especially for those people who have low self esteem they have a feeling of belongingness.

But of course there is a bigger downs side. Virtual reality is not real and some people do mix it up for their reality and in the end they become depressed and violent. Also it can be scary especially for people who are ignorant of the fact that there are predators online who get personal information and in the end stalk and ultimately harm people.

For those people who do enjoy being in the virtual world they must be careful because you will never really know who is on the other end of the chat line.

This is very true because some people can just give false facts about themselves and I am very sure that there will be other people who will be fooled by this. There are already a lot of examples of this sort of exploitation and the online games are now being done.
The world of war craft is an example of this. I myself spent a lot of time playing games before and I kind of felt that I have wasted some part of time in my life. There are time spent wasted and there are times that we can use time of some use and progress instead. There will always be pros and cons of this sort of cybernet experiences. So let us all be careful and enjoy at the same time

This is a nice looking avatar. I suppose that the choice (or modeling/creation) of an avatar is somehow a view to the creator's self (real-life or online) perception.

Hell yeah. I have a friend who was almost raped because she met up with this guy online.

Buti nalang she relied on her better judgement...and pepper spray.

There is always a fine line between reality and fantasy and if the person does not recognize that then I think he or she has some sort of problem.
