“ lumabas ka nga at maglaro ka” a mother said to his son.
Today, we don’t often see kids playing at the streets creating different kinds of game but we see bikes parked at a house where it’s all covered up. It is funny how technology changed the generations of kids we keep on having. There are these 90’s kids where they can’t and won’t miss a single episode of sineskuwela or batibot or hirayamanawari. And we have the millenium kids, where in they don’t watch tv nor they play outside, they do communicate, its just that with cellphones. We define cellphones as a gadget that could help us communiccate with our clients even from different countries. But theses children doesn’t even go to school yet, they got these high-end cellphones where they text their friends if it’s time for them to go and hangout.
A lot of things have changed since the technology evovled in different levels. And as they improve, it affects the growth of children around the globe. It changed their perspectives and sometimes with their own common sense they rebel against their parents causing a lot chaos in their families.

blaming everything to the technology will not change a thing if we don't do anyhting about it...mahirap kasi sa mga Pilipino...whatever is in dapat meron tayo..di tayo pahuhuli and we cant even be responsible to those new things...i think we cannot change what the computer or cyberspace has started..we can only avoid the negative effects if we choose to do so
The reason why people do not seem to do anything about this issue, I suppose, is that it really depends on the user how he or she will utilize these man-made marvels.
Technology is a powerful tool. Picture it as an atomic bomb. It has so much potential and force building up inside that, if used incorrectly, can deal massive damage to a country, or in this case, a person.
Definitely kids these days don't recognize the value of physical activity as they are all cooped up in their game rooms and computer games.
I remember asking some of my nephews if they wanted to play outside, maybe some tag or plain old "patintero" but all I got were faces with a "?". They're all stuck in their DS and 360 worlds. And when ask if they do anything else for fun they go "I play the guitar, and I play tennis... in the Wii."
But hey I have to say, its actually much cooler to be a kid now, but of course I wouldn't give up my childhood of muddy shirts and tree climbing, thinking I was Indy or Tarzan. Kids don't have those these days. They leave all the interesting imagining to the computer or TV. But of course I love the direction Nintendo is heading, adding the Physical activity into their video games.
This is similar to what I just posted.
I wonder if the children today can play the street games that we used to be so familiar with or if they are still interested in it.
To be fair, I can't blame them. Who wants to exert actual effort and be soaked in sweat under the harsh summer sun to be physically active when you can just flex your fingers in the comfort of your home? Hehe. :)
Maybe the kids' too much exposure on Cyberspace can also be a culprit to the sky rocketing numbers of obese kids. The physical activities becomes less even the favorite games of little boys-the basketball, can be played online.
it is quite amazing how technology has changed a lot of things these days. but everything cannot be blamed to technology. when it comes to kids playing on the streets it depends on the terms these kids were given by their parents. some parents are very controlling, not letting their kids play outside because it might be too dangerous, which is also a reason why kids have found computer games or cellular phones. it's their alternative for going outside.
Very true. Its actually sad less and less kids join sports now because they would rather just play sports on their wii or playstation because its at home and easier to do.
But actually it really all depends on the children's parents. If the children see their parents having outdoor activities then that is encouragement enough to do the same. Also parents should refrain from spoiling their kids and setting rules on using these computers.
