SONA

(July 23, 2007) PGMA DELIVERS HER 7TH SONA--President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo gestures to stress a point as she delivers her annual State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA), at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.

I did not have the time to watch President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's 7th SONA for our country, i watched it from the late news of GMA channel 7. So here are some points of President Gloria Macacpagal Arroyo that i remembered from the late news of GMA 7 which is SAKSI. From SAKSI they said that President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo annouced the .50 cent per text approved the national telecommunications and she was the one who talked to those people to lessen the amount. But, she did not mentioned that this offer is until October 22, 2008. Second, she defend the VAT of oil. she said that if we will take off VAT the high class people will get the benefit and lowers ones will much become poorer. Becuase, the money that our government used for education, housing, land tranportation repair etc. are coming from the VAT. She also mention about the Re-activation of the contract in Agrarian and giving funds for the Anti-Graft and Correption, to fight them. She also said that she's supporting the Natural Method. Others said that President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo didn't focus on livelihood program and education.

For me, i'm not anti nor pro to President Gloria Arroyo. It's good to hear that she has a plan for our country to make it better. People do make mistakes and if she does that's okay. I'm gald that she explains the VAT. At first i was so pissed off about the 12% VAT but when she explained it that this is for the country i agreed. Especially in education, we all know that education right know is very expensive, and this 12% VAT helped the ones who can't afford to pay their tuition fees. Though her critics says there could be an other programs to help-- i just thought that is the same thing. Right? The government will get it from the people. I mean they will just change it, but it (i think) it will have the same process. I'm not anti nor pro-- i just for what is right, and for the better of other people.

PGMA did the right thing to explain and elaborate on the advantages of VAT. In fact, i was surprised that VAT is a very effective way in coping with the global crisis, as the President explained it. I get to understand the other side of VAT, hindi yung puro negative side lang.

But PGMA, i think is really a good speaker, she was able to persuade you and dive your emotions to what she explained. I am not also pro or anti PGMA, that's why i am also telling that she improved in this year's SONA.

But still, experiencing and seeing the opposite of the things she said in our reality, I was still not convinced about evrything she said. It was not the pure eality that was offered to the nation.
